snowbound
we sip Darjeeling
and dream
of growing marigolds
in monsoon rain
drumbeats
calling down the rain
we walk
with muddy feet
petrichor on our skin
the degrees
of separation
between us
i am summer's heat
you are winter's chill
this baggage
carried from one life
to the next
we unpack everything
but our belongingness

I unfold my origami self / and swim into a lake of fire / washing my hair in ashes / the crane-legged words / of a thousand burning poems.
