Atlas Poetica, Number 19, Autumn 2014

snowbound
we sip Darjeeling
and dream
of growing marigolds
in monsoon rain

drumbeats
calling down the rain
we walk
with muddy feet
petrichor on our skin

the degrees
of separation
between us
i am summer's heat
you are winter's chill

this baggage
carried from one life
to the next
we unpack everything
but our belongingness
